Stretch marks are lines in the skin that can vary in size. They can be small lines or be large enough to resemble scars.
Though they do not cause any problems from a health standpoint, they are not particularly attractive. Most people would prefer getting rid of them if possible and there are a number of home remedies for stretch marks that can help.

A common cause of these unsightly scars is pregnancy, but any weight gain as well as loss can result in them. The growth spurts experienced in teenage years are also a common cause. Additional factors can include heredity and stress.

There are many expensive creams on the market that claim to reduce or get rid of stretch marks. However, there are also a number of home remedies that have been found to be effective. Many of these have been handed down from generation to generation.

The most common stretch marks remedies all involve massaging some kind of oil or cream onto the scars. Those recommended include: cocoa butter, olive oil, lavender oil, Vitamin E oil, aloe vera gel, and shea butter. There are a number of recipes that include a blend of several of these.

A simple recipe is to take a basic oil, such as almond oil, and add a few drops of lavender oil to this. It will definitely be good for your skin and it will smell great as well. Lavender also has the therapeutic benefit of being relaxing so will be a great oil to massage in at night and to relieve stress.

Or just get a few of the different recommended oils and find your own combination that you like. A big part of how much to add of each is going to depend on the consistency you prefer. You can vary the proportions until you find a blend that you like personally. There is no wrong mixture.

All of the oils and butters can be applied several times a day. Even if they do not get rid of your stretch marks completely, they will be good for your skin. And there should be no concern over daily long-term use.

Other remedies include diet and exercise. The exercise will firm up the affected area and prevent more from occurring. Dietary changes should be to include plenty of those foods that give your body Vitamins E, A and C as well as zinc. Food to include are vegetables, especially leafy greens, and fruit as well as fish oils and nuts which are very beneficial for healthy skin.
Being sure to drink enough water every day is an additional factor which will help to hydrate the skin and keep it healthy.

If you want to get rid of your marks as naturally and inexpensively as possible, start putting the lifestyle changes into effect today. Then have fun experimenting with the different home remedies for stretch marks. Your skin will love you for it.
