Warts are contagious. Those occurring on the feet, sometimes called verrucae or plantar warts, are easily picked up if you walk barefoot in public bathrooms, in locker rooms, near swimming pools, or in other public places that remain moist underfoot.
Shower sandals and frequent drying of the feet will aid prevention. Common cures are: - A tea made of purple cornflower, burdock root, or red clover may build up your natural resistance.
- Rub them daily with a radish. Or, with juice of marigold flowers. It will hardly fail. Or, apply bruised (purslane) as a poultice, changing it twice a day. It cures in seven or eight days.
- Rub warts with castor oil, lemon juice, macerated dandelion, fresh mashed garlic, celandine juice, or milkweed juice.
- Warts: Dissolve as much common washing soda as the water will take up, then wash the hands or warts with this for a minute or two, and allow them to dry without being wiped. This repeated for two or three days, will gradually destroy the most irritable wart.
