Asthma is on the increase in the Western world-the jury is still out on the cause-but many people believe pollution to be a major factor.
Nettles and onions can protect against asthma. Or try soaking a fresh cabbage leaf in hot water until saturated and drink the liquid. Chew two cloves of garlic a day or make up a drink from three heads or garlic, 2 ½ cups of water, 1 ¼ cups of cider vinegar and a spoonful of honey. Simmer the garlic cloves in the water for a half-hour, add the vinegar and honey and simmer until it forms a syrupy consistency. Drink a sherry-glassful each day. Drink a small glass of carrot juice daily to reduce the risk of asthma attacks. Irish moss is a jelly, which you can get from some health food stores. Combine it with half an onion, two cloves of garlic and half a cup of honey to make a syrup. It can be taken every couple of hours or as needed.
