Plain yogurt applied to a burn will keep it cool, or you can make up a soothing poultice from honey and yogurt.

Adding crushed elderberries to the poultice will make it more effective or mash the leaves of the elder with a little butter and use it as a mild cream for the affected area.

Cucumber mashed to a pulp and mixed with glycerine makes a particularly wonderful moisturizing balm. Cool the whole area with a cider vinegar splash and make sure the person who has been burned has plenty of fluids.

Try making a tea made from lemon balm, which will both calm the patient and provide further pain relief.
