The thyroid is the pacemaker for the metabolism.

The little gland in the neck uses iodine, which controls the rate of activity in the body’s cells.

An overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) can cause palpitations, sweating, weight loss, and bulging eyes; an underactive one (hypothyroidism) may result in weight gain, lethargy, hair loss, and excessive sleeping.

If yours gets hyper, drink an infusion of bugleweed to lessen palpitations, and consume fritillary bulb in liquid concentrate or tablets.

Acupuncture may also help lessen overproduction of thyroid hormones. If it’s hypo, on the other hand, consume seaweed, as food or supplements restore balance, and engage an aerobic exercise to stimulate the gland’s hormone production.
