If you experience pain and constriction in the chest and neck, especially on the left side, see a doctor at once: these are symptoms of angina, a serious heart condition.
Chinese medicine looks at angina as a stagnation of energy in the heart.
You will want to take strong measures right away, especially stopping smoking and eliminating animal fats from your diet.
It’s time to set a long-range plan for heart health. From now on, your lifestyle should include regular exercise, plenty of fiber in your diet, eating only oily fish, lessening stress however you can.

To treat angina, the traditional Chinese prescription is to chop one red sage root into chunks and boil briefly, no longer than eight minutes. (Be sure to use the kind of sage that has red leafs; green leaf sage doesn’t have the same effect.)
Drink the liquid as tea sweetened with honey.

Cinnamon twigs, safflower, and red peony, found in Chinese herb shops and some health food stores, are also of help.
