The human scalp is very porous and easily absorbs harmful chemicals.

From hair coloring to champoos and sprays, many commercial hair products are full of coaltar dyes, ammonia, formaldehyde, plastic resins, and artificial fragrance that ca cause everything from skin irritation to cancer and blindness.

Natural alternatives to these chemicals are widely available in health food stores, or you can make your own.
For natural hair dye, use strong black tea or coffee for a dark color, or lemon juice for lightening.
To shampoo, rub baking soda into your scalp and rinse it does better job than commercial shampoo, which can leave chemical residues on your hair.

Orange water or honeyed water can be used as hair spray, and natural gelatin serves as gel. To preserve the gel, add enough vodka to make up about 25 percent of volume.
